Slapping Jesus

Home

At the trial, Jesus found himself surrounded by people he had created who were now under Satan's control. Jesus had just responded to the high priests question, which left the high priest speechless. Upon seeing this, one of his officers filled with rage struck Jesus in the face. After being struck, Jesus calmly responded by saying, “If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil: but if well, why smitest thou Me?”

All the heavenly angels stood by longing to deliver Jesus. At one time, upon God's command, the angels had destroyed the entire Assyrian army in one night – this was one hundred and eighty-five thousand men. How easy it would have been for the angels to have put an end to this shameful scene. Yet, this was not God's will. Jesus came to this earth to be ridiculed and then crucified. Jesus had come to die for our sins that we might have eternal life.
